Churches Together in Weedon and Hardwick
Inauguration Service
The Inauguration Service of ˜Churches Together in Hardwick and Weedon celebrating their Local Ecumenical Partnership was held on Sunday 29th November 2009 at St. Mary's Church in Hardwick.
Prior to the service, the Denominational Representatives visited the Church in Weedon where they were greeted by the local congregation and learnt some of the history of the Wesleyan Chapel.
Everyone there then proceeded to the Church in Hardwick where the Rev. David Meakin and Rev. Ann Varker led the service. The Bishop of Buckingham preached the sermon where he congratulated all those involved in the formation of the partnership.
The declaration of intent and constitution was signed by the local representatives,
Mr Stan Killick, Church Warden and
Mr Laurie Gower, Church Steward and the denominational representatives,
The Bishop of Buckingham,
Rt. Rev. Dr Alan Wilson
and Rev. Peter Hancock,
Chair of Northampton Methodist District together with Major David Scott from Churches Together in Buckinghamshire.
Celebrations continued with refreshments at John Bridle Hall in Hardwick. A programme of services in both churches has been underway for many months prior to the special service.
