THE LEP of the CHURCHES of NORTH MARSTON

The Methodist Society has served the village since 1864 and is proud of its tradition.
The congregations of St Mary's and the Methodist Church within the village have been close for many years, worshipping together in each other's Churches on occasion and sharing in each other's festivals.
In 2004 they decided to enter into a formal Church Building Sharing Agreement.
Initially it had been thought that the two congregations would retain their separate identities but, as we met and talked, it rapidly became evident that we shared much in common with little to keep us apart. We decided therefore that the two congregations should henceforth worship together as one.
Our Services, including Holy Communion, now embrace both Methodist and Anglican forms using alternately the Anglican Book of Common Prayer and Methodist Orders of Service. Both Methodist and Anglican Hymns are used, and all Services and other Church activities are open to all.
Our vision is truly to be one worshipping body in Christ anticipating the fulfilment of the Covenant between the Church of England and the Methodist Church of Great Britain.

On 24th September the Rev. Petra Elsmore was inducted as our part-time Team Vicar for Granborough and North Marston.
Petra was born in Czech Republic and trained to be a teacher before beginning to explore a call to ordination in the Church of England.
Petra was ordained in the Church of England in the Diocese of Liverpool, in 2003. After the birth of her children, Marcus and Lucy, she held positions in Liverpool in hospital and probation chaplaincy, and is also a qualified counsellor and teacher of Mindfulness.
Petra and her husband Guy (who is also ordained and working as Archdeacon of Buckingham) moved to Buckinghamshire in 2016.

This Wesley Centre has a wonderful heritage of Methodist worship in North Marston that was transformed in early 2017 into a modern community building,
through the dedication and commitment of the Church and local groups.
The Wesley Centre hosts the local Heritage Centre, run by the North Marston History Club, and is also available to hire.
This facility is a great asset to the vibrant village and the surrounding area. Importantly, it provides a much needed modern meeting and worship space for the St Mary's Church in the village..
This Wesley Centre helps, not only the village as a whole, but enables the church community to reach out and service the wider people of the area.
