Hello everyone again.
Due to unforeseen circumstances we have unfortunately had to change the time of our Pre-Holiday meeting at Thame on Wednesday 7 May. Our meeting will now take place at 2.30 pm instead of 11 am.
We will meet in the Memorial Room at Christchurch (on the left of the Church) and we'll start with a cuppa so that we can get to know each other better. Gordon McCallum (our coach driver and Tour Organizer) is unfortunately not going to be able to be there but Richard Atkinson hopes to join us and I'm sure he will keep us in order. We will need to pay the balance of £584 (either a cheque made out to Norman Allen Group Travel Ltd or the details from your debit/credit card). We will be handing out luggage labels at this meeting.
Gordon has now confirmed the Pick-up times for Monday 30 June and these are attached. Please let me know if something is not quite right on this list or if you have any queries about the holiday.
The hotel has sent the following paragraph about mobility:
There is a small lift for 2 people to all floors, however due to the age and style of the building, it is necessary to negotiate steps to access most of the bedrooms. The hotel is not suitable for those with severe mobility issues as the lift is not large enough to take a scooter for example, plus each floor has the steps to negotiate. The restaurant is in the basement and is accessed via 15 or so steps, or the hotel's lift.
Departure points available include Aylesbury, Haddenham, Princes Risborough, Chinnor and Thame. Please advise your chosen departure point in the Special Requests section. SEE .pdf attached
Day 1: Monday 30th June 2025
Board our tour coach from your chosen departure point and we will make our way to Bournemouth. We will make a lunch stop on the way and will arrive at The Ocean Beach Hotel on East Cliff in Bournemouth mid-afternoon. After checking into the hotel, you will have a chance to walk along East Cliff to enjoy the views towards the Isle of Wight and The Isle of Purbeck.
Day 2: Tuesday – Weymouth and Swanage.
We will travel westwards today, firstly visiting Weymouth in the morning, before making our way to Swanage. Both are lovely seaside towns with plenty of things to do and look at. Or you may just wish to enjoy the sea air. If time allows, we may have the opportunity to take an optional ride on The Swanage Railway, with spectacular views of Corfe Castle.
Day 3: Wednesday – Free Day
Today you are free to explore the delights of Bournemouth.
Day 4: Thursday – New Forest Drive and Christchurch
We will take a scenic route around The New Forest with a halfway stop in Lyndhurst. Then we continue on our drive before arriving in the delightful town of Christchurch, where the magnificent Priory and harbour are the highlights. It will then be a short journey back to the hotel, after a lovely day.
Day 5: Friday 4th July
Sadly, we head home today but will make a stop for lunch on the way. We will be back home later in the afternoon.
